Happy Friday!! I hope you guys have been having a most excellent week. It’s been a great one for me, mostly because I took the week off work and have been able to get a lot of stuff done. I was planning to be in Virginia this week. But finances just didn’t work out.
With us planning to move and an even more urgent need to cut our debt (so we can get qualified for a mortgage) I didn’t feel right spending the money to go out there. Which makes me very sad, because all of my favorite bloggers are going to be getting together. And I would have loved to hang out.
So instead I’ve focused on spring cleaning, both on the blog and around the homestead. In case you hadn’t noticed things look different around here. And finally started working on a project that’s very near to my heart. I’ll be sharing more about that in the next few weeks.
I’ve also used my crock pot multiple times! Which is huge for me, because I’m really bad about using it. Seriously, I never think about it until I’m already at work and I never prep it the night before. So it only ever gets used when I’m home for the day. Oh well.
When it comes to our debt free journey this week not much happened. Dustin got paid, and I paid just a few bills with it. We’ve got a few larger purchases coming up and I didn’t want to cut it too close in the bank. I’ve also started using Mint. Mostly because I was hoping that it would create a prettier graphic for this series. But it’s also a good tool for anyone looking to get a good snapshot of their finances.
Just a single pay week, and I was paid some of my secondary bonus for my oil business which was a nice bump. All of that money is going towards plane tickets to Utah for a conference in September. So every little bit helps. We also got the flex money for Dustin’s new glasses. Which was nice to replenish our savings.
Just paid two smaller bills this week and am holding onto the rest of our money and letting it sit in the bank. Next week is a double pay week so we’ll finish our May bills and get started on June so I’m not to worried about holding back this week.
We’re also saving for Memorial Day weekend. We’ll be going up north and Dustin plans to do some work on his suburban while we’re up there and have access to the right tools and the lift. So we’re planning now for those expenses.
How is your week going?
