I’m really sorry that I never got my update up last week. I had two essential oils parties (yay) on Wednesday and Thursday. Meaning I had to go straight from work, to the party, and home. I had just enough time to check my email and crawl into bed.
Add in a week where I hadn’t slept and I feel bad but the blog had to take a backseat. Sometimes you just have to take care of yourself… And since I took the overtime on Saturday I figured you guys would understand if I missed an update.
So I’m making up for it this week! I’ve got lots to share with you guys. First of all, we have successfully not used credit cards in quite a while. At all! That’s a major accomplishment. I swear I am honestly the target market of credit card advertising. I buy into the myth that I’ll buy something on credit and then pay it off.
Guys, that doesn’t happen. That is the exception, not the rule.
Don’t buy into that myth. If you don’t have credit cards now GOOD! Don’t fall into the trap. If you do have credit cards cut them up. If you’re not ready to do that put them in a safe deposit box. Or bury them in the yard. Do something with them so they’re not easy to access.
Second big news is we bought our chicken coop. In cash. WOOHOO. This was a big purchase that we’d been saving up for little by little and we did it. I own that baby free and clear and I couldn’t be happier about it.
When your financial freedom journey is as long as ours will be, you have to celebrate the little things. If not the long hard journey will seem unendurable and you’ll quit.
Our other big news isn’t so great financially. But it is awesome mentally. Dustin’s last day of work was yesterday. His new job starts on June 6th. So we’ve got one more paycheck…and then it’s a big mystery about when his new pay starts coming in.
That makes me nervous!
I’ve figured out the timeline with my paychecks and his potential pay dates. And we’ll have all the bills paid. But not much room for things like groceries and definitely no room for any surprises. Luckily I get paid mileage for work so that will cover our gas for the month.
So keep your fingers crossed we don’t have to wait too long for his first paycheck. I can’t wait for that day! We’re going to be looking at a pretty significant bump in our ability to pay back debt faster!
With Dustin being gone this summer a lot I’ve already let my day job know I’m happy to take on some Saturday’s for overtime. It’s not my favorite thing to work 6 days a week, but I sure don’t mind that bump in the paycheck.
I worked last Saturday and I’ve got a couple tentative Saturdays in June already. Not a bad way to make a little extra money. I’m also packing my schedule with my essential oils business. I’m ready to get out there and make this business financially powerful.
Last week we had a double pay week which was great, this week is a single week. Next week I get paid some of my bonuses which will help a lot!
We’re closing out May this week and getting started on a few small June bills. Otherwise, this month it’s going to be a lot of nail-biting. Nothing fun about cutting it close with money in-money out. Next week I’m going to share a few of my favorite apps for keeping track of expenses!
