We signed Dustin up for Stitch Fix as soon as I learned they now offered the service for men! It’s pretty cool. We’ve been meaning to get Dustin some new clothes to update his wardrobe. The poor man is still rocking clothes from his bachelor days….and those need to go!
This whole experience was really fun, I loved getting him to pose for the camera (my husband is so indulgent) and getting to try something new. Check out what we got! And leave your opinions of what you would have kept in the comments below.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Stitch Fix, the men’s and women’s servies work the same way! You get 5 pieces of clothing in the mail for a $20 styling fee. You get to try everyone on at home and you only pay for what you keep! If you keep all 5 items you get a 20% discount. Either way the styling fee goes towards anything you keep. Shipping is free in both directions. Click HERE to sign up for the service.
Essential Wash Long Sleeve Shirt by Hawker Rye
Nicole; I’ve been watching a lot of Home Improvement…This looks like something Al would wear. Not a big fan of this particular plaid pattern for Dustin.
Dustin; “Nice fabric, I can’t tell if I like the pattern or just the color. There is something about it I like, and something about it I don’t…. dislike but feel meh about it.”
Nicole; Definitely Al…I am not a fan of the pattern on him at all!!
Dustin; It’s light, I like that. Sleeves are a good length, which is not something we find often…not great around the belly. I believe the words ‘fat evidence’ were used. Works unbuttoned nicely.
Final Decision: Going back, too small, bad pattern
Rocky Fleece Zip Hoodie by Alternative Apparel
Nicole; I want to steal this! It’s so soft and comfy feeling! Not sure if it’s worth the price, but it’s definitely something I can see Dustin wearing a lot and if it’s a good quality and a good fit that’s definitely worth it.
Dustin; “That’s a lot of names, it’s quite the mouthful” I’m not blown away, it’s a zip up hoodie. It feels soft which is nice, but shallow pockets….overall, it’s a hoodie. Not a negative, not a positive.
Nicole: Definitely doesn’t fit at all for a layering item.
Dustin: Nope…it’s too tight…again it might be because I’m fat, but the biggest thing for me with an outer layer is I need to be able to conceal carry with it.
Final Decision: Going back, too small, too expensive
Redmond Jersey Henley by Threads 4 Thought
Nicole; This is similar to a couple of different shirts that Dustin already owns. We’re a big fan of the Henley style and it looks really good on him! I like the color. Not sure if I’d pay this much for a shirt similar to what he already has.
Dustin: It’s a henley…a type of shirt. Feeling hopeful, because his favorite shirt is his hurley henley.
Nicole: So sad, I really liked this shirt because I love the henley style shirts he already wears. But it’s definitely too short. My man is all chest that’s where almost all of his over 6ft height comes from!
Dustin: Too short, the hem falls right at the waist and it’s too tight on the arms. Which he liked only because it made him feel like he had muscly arms.
Final Decision: Going back, too small
Voyage Slim Fit Chino by 7 Diamonds
Nicole; Yes! This is exactly something Dustin needs! Dressier pant in a good color. The green is trendy but not so far outside his comfort zone, if they fit I definitely want these in his wardrobe.
Dustin: Highly suspect, it says slim fit…nothing about me is slim. Literally nothing.
Nicole: My husband has no butt! The waist might be a little big and he’ll be hitching them up a lot without a good belt or suspenders. But they look good, especially for dressing up occasionally.
Dustin: Lot of room in the waist which is perfect for carrying his pistol. Might be too much room, so yay for losing inches. Feels fairly comfortable, good movement. The pockets are a little small (Nicole note; welcome to every pair of pants a woman owns) but all in all no real complaints. Belt loops are a little skinny and might not hold up to rugged use.
Essential Wash Long Sleeve Shirt by Hawker Rye
Nicole; I like this pattern a LOT better than the other Hawker Rye shirt. This is different than any of the shirts in his wardrobe, and if it fits I think it’ll be a nice change for him! My man is all chest and arms though so we’ll see how it goes!
Dustin; It’s weird. The color combination seems kind of golf-y definitely like the pattern better than the other one. It’s not as busy. Not a big fan of whites, but we’ll see how it looks. Can I wear them with the pants?
Nicole; Like the pattern a lot better, but he’ll hulk out of the shirt if he breathes too deeply.
Dustin; It’s tight in the shoulders, that’s not fatness it just won’t go away.
Final Decision; Going back, too small.
I kept Dustin’s opinions as authentic as possible, only editing them for appropriateness 😉 he was a good sport about the whole thing. And I am lucky woman, he’s so handsome! We’ll be doing this again, at least quarterly. It was good to see some new things, and I think the stylist did a good job, just struggle with fit. Which isn’t unusual given my husband yummy broad shoulders!
