One of the compromises of working from home was the decision to push my Stitch Fix boxes to every other month instead of every month. We figured that until we had a good idea of my steady monthly income we could do without the extra expense. So that means I have to work on my patience….a skill that is not my strong suit.
I have had 5 excellent boxes so far, it’s been awesome to see my wardrobe go from plain and over-filled to stylish and smaller. I’m focusing on quality pieces I can use in different ways vs lots of stuff I just push around. It’s working so far. I held another clothing swap last month and freed up some more room in my closet and now I’m ready to get some new goodies.
If you’re not familiar with Stitch Fix it is a service where you get 5 items picked out specifically for you by a personal stylist. They use your Pinterest style board, personal profile, and feedback from other boxes to pick out your items.
For a $20 styling fee they send you your items, you try them on in the comfort of your own home, and then send back anything you don’t want to keep! If you keep all 5 items you get a sweet 25% discount, I’ve taken advantage of that twice now!
If you’d like to try sprucing up your own wardrobe please considering signing up through my link, it helps feed my addiction 😉 and now on to the fun part!
Justin Dress by Freeway
Initial Thoughts: This is a perfect summer dress, I love the print and it’s REALLY light. I’m just a little worried that it might be too light. Also the v-cut is a little low and that could be an issue when I’m wearing it! But if it works this would be a great option for a cute dress for summer, that I can warm up with a cute jean jacket for fall!
Wearing It: The pros of this dress…really comfy, nice and light, perfect for summer. The cons…really light, really low cut (I had to wear a tank top under it to keep the sight PG), and really short. I went back and forth on this one a lot, but ended up sending it back because it needed a tank top, leggings and maybe a belt according to my friends to be just right.
Final Decision: Sending it back.
Tracy Dot Print Cross Back Knit Top by Pixley
Initial Thoughts: Oh my goodness do I want this top to fit, I LOVE Pixley, it’s quickly becoming my favorite brand that Stitch Fix sends to me. The fabric is so soft and I love the polka dots! I’ve always been a fan of polka dots, and this top has the cute back detail that is really fun.
Wearing It: Love love love everything about this top. It is super comfy, really pretty, and flattering. I love the detailing on the back and seriously would buy this top in every color imaginable if I could!
Final Decision: Keeping it!!
Bastille Tulip Sleeve Blouse by Papermoon
Initial Thoughts: Dustin really liked this top a lot when I pulled it out of the box, and so do I. I like the cute cap sleeves and it’s a really light fabric that will be nice for summer. I love the color, I’m always a fan of blue, but it’s also very similar to a shirt that I’ve already got. I do love the price though and if it fits I think that this will get a lot of use in my wardrobe.
Wearing It: I just can’t get enough of the sleeves on this blouse! It is so cute. My friends who helped me decide love the back detailing, so overall this is a win. The color is flattering, I like the length and overall it’s a fun addition to my closet.
Final Decision: Keeping it!
Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse by 41Hawthorn
Initial Thoughts: I’m on the fence about this one. I love the color, it’s a great teal. But it seems a little plain. I had a shirt like this in my wardrobe that just sat there until I brought it to the clothing swap. Maybe when it’s on it will change my mind, but I’m worried it might be too plain. I do love though the longer style of the shirt and that it’s 3/4 length sleeves.
Wearing It: This is one of those shirts that is NOT meant for a chesty girl, as you can tell in the pictures I was very uncomfortable and it was tight in the chest. I loved the color until it was on me, then I felt like it washed me out.
Final Decision: Sending it back.
Emer Printed Straight Leg Pant by Margaret M
Initial Thoughts: Ok, so these pants areaway outside my comfort zone. But that’s the whole point of Stitch Fix. I’m not one for prints on pants but I’m willing to give these pants a solid try. I’ve had some issue with fit when it comes to pants from Stitch Fix, but when they fit they fit perfect. So we’ll see how these look!
Wearing It: This was another one that I just wasn’t sure on. The fit was really comfy, the fabric was a little stiff but overall it was a the pattern that was just a little much for me. I liked it in theory, but on me it was too busy and I felt uncomfortable. I just didn’t love them enough to see myself pulling them out to wear regularly.
Final Decision: Sending back.
So this ended up being a 2/5 box. I was really close on the dress and the pants, but for the price and the fact that I was totally in love with them they went back. I absolutely loved the polka dot shirt and really have fallen in love with the Pixley brand from Stitch Fix. What would you have kept or sent back?
