It has been quite a while since my last Stitch Fix box, and as much as I have been loving Gwynnie Bee, I do miss the fun of being surprised. It’s pretty cool to see what they choose based off my profile and playing dress up! I’ve had some really great items come from Stitch Fix in the past and most of them I wear quite regularly.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, Stitch Fix is a clothing subscription service where you get a personally selected box of items based off of a profile you fill out. You pay $20 for the styling fee, which gets put towards anything you keep, and a 25% discount if you keep all 5 items. You only pay for what you keep, and shipping is free both directions. It’s pretty awesome.
I took time off from Stitch Fix though because our budget has been pretty tight lately. Because of that, because of our goals to be debt free, and because of our goals for our intentional living community I’ve got a pretty big announcement…I’m going back to the corporate world. WHAT?!
I’m actually really really excited about it. I’ll be doing a job I love, working with what seems like some pretty cool people, and finding a good balance between my creative endeavors here on the blog, my essential oils business, and my goals to someday pay off my student loans!
So to celebrate I treated myself with a Stitch Fix box!! What better way to celebrate going back to the world where I actually will be wearing something other than yoga pants and tank tops. Not that I don’t absolutely love my yoga pants and tank tops, but I have a closet full of cute clothes and it will be nice to get a chance to wear at least some of it!
Now, on to the part you’re all here for! My 9th Stitch Fix box, I was absolutely blown away by Kate’s sweet note, she even read my blog (squee) and found some cute items that I really like that will go nicely in my wardrobe.
Blenheim Bell Sleeve Knit Top by Loveappella
Initial Thoughts: Seems nice, very simple and might not have the usual problem of too much boob and not enough fabric like I normally get with a blouse. I love the color and think it will be a good color for my uber pale skin. The fabric is also really soft and a nice weight. Great color for winter, and it would go nicely with some items I already own.
Wearing It: Really liked the color and cut of this top, fit really nicely across the chest which is always a hard thing to find.
Final Decision: This was definitely a hard decision for me but I decided to send it back. I really liked it but the price point was just a little too high for a plain top for me right now.
Tobie Dress by Mak
Initial Thoughts: I LOVE this color, purple on me can be really flattering. It’s a lot lighter than I had thought a sweater dress would be. Which is fine with me, I’m always hot so I don’t like anything too heavy. The fabric is a bit thin though so we’ll have to see what it’s like on, I worry it might stretch too much and become a bit see-through.
Wearing It: Purple is definitely a good color for me. I liked the feel of this dress, it was very cozy. Would probably look good with leggings, which is how I would have to wear it since it is much shorter than I normally wear.
Final Decision: I liked it, but didn’t love it. Can’t justify the money if it’s not something I absolutely loved. It’s a good price for a sweater dress, but I wasn’t blown away.
Aleah Heathered V-Neck Dolman Top by Market & Spruce
Initial Thoughts: Oh the bat-wing tops. Why is this a thing?! Seriously, who thought an aerodynamic shirt was a good idea that needed to be ‘in-style’. This is the second dolman style top I’ve gotten from Stitch Fix, and I’m trying to keep an open mind. I love the color, and I think since this one doesn’t have a rounded neckline it will be more flattering on my body. But with wide shoulders, anything that accentuates that wideness is never good.
Wearing It: This one was actually a total surprise. The color looks really good on me, and the bat wings aren’t super noticable. I really love green and definitely need to add more of it to my wardrobe.
Final Decision: Surprisingly I’m keeping the bat-wing shirt. Had not expected to love it as much as I do. But the color is great, the price is good, and it’s really comfy.
Kasidy Geo Print Skirt by Papermoon
Initial Thoughts: Hmm, does this skirt seem familiar to anyone else? Yep, that’s because I’ve gotten it before just in a different color. I guess maybe since I keep that one they thought I’d like another. The black and white pattern is different from the previous skirt, and I do love a good swishy skirt!
Wearing It: I like this skirt, it’s a nice weight and very swishy. But yeah, I already own it. I’m trying to expand me closet and most of my stuff is black and white, so not really out there for me, last time the pattern was a cute funky blue that I liked a lot better.
Final Decision: Going back! The black and white is cute, but just can’t get past the fact it’s already upstairs in my closet.
Lawley Cable Knit Open Cardigan by Brixon Ivy
Initial Thoughts: Oh. My. Goodness. I wish you guys could feel this sweater. It is so soft and just feels nice in my hands. I love a good cardigan, they’re great for layering which I am a big fan of. And the gray color is nice and neutral, which is something I wear a lot of, course that’s sort of the problem with my wardrobe. A lot of blacks, grays, and blues…but I could branch out and wear some more vibrant shirts underneath it.
Wearing It: Oh, I was SO right. This is ridiculously comfy. I love it! I love the long pockets, I love how it fits, I love absolutely everything about this. It’s the priciest item in my Stitch Fix box this month, but it makes me so happy.
Final Decision: It’s pricey, but worth it! Keeping it, and will probably wear it ALL the time.
So there you have it! My 9th Stitch Fix box!! I love seeing the comments of what you guys would have kept! And it’s really fun for me get to play dress up.
