When I started blogging in July I honestly had no idea quite how this year would end. I knew what I hoped for, but you really have no idea if what you’re writing will resonate with people, if anyone will even care about your little corner of the internet. Well….y’all like me, you really like me (insert picture of Sally Field ;-D). And my mind is blown every time you comment, like, share, and read our stuff. It is the best feeling in the world knowing that out there across the country (and the world, hello to our international fans) people are looking forward to our next post. I hope you haven’t been disappointed and I hope you’ll continue to journey with us into 2015. But since it is New Year’s Eve I can’t think of a better time for an introspective look at our most popular posts of 2014! If you’ve been following on our Facebook page you know I’ve been sharing a lot of top 10’s. Our top 10 Pinterest posts, pins, Facebook posts, blog pages, Facebook pages, and today is my top 10 favorite posts that I got to write (go check it out and see how it compares to this list).
I saved my top 10 most popular for this post though, some of my favorite bloggers have come together to share our own top 10’s and at the bottom you’ll be able to click through and check out their top 10’s. I have loved getting to dig into my analytics (seriously, bloggy nerd moment) and see which of my posts were tops. Some surprised me, some definitely were expected (seriously, having a post go viral on Facebook is AWESOME, but it does take out the surprise for me at least of the #1) and jut been a great trip down memory lane. So here we go.*
I love that you guys enjoyed this post so much! This is my absolute favorite present to make each year and I think it is definitely my brother in law’s favorite present to receive! This year I ended up doing the chocolate covered chips, they were quite tasty but next time I’ll have to figure out how to dip them a little lighter.
Who doesn’t love free? And this checklist is an organizational gem that I loved putting together for you guys to say thanks!
Prepping can seem very expensive, heck it can be very expensive if you let it. I’m the girl drooling over a 40k bug out trailer. But that doesn’t mean you can’t prep on a budget. There are options out there for every budget and I loved sharing a couple of ways we save money on our preps.
I love that this post has been so popular, it came out of a vulnerable moment that I wanted to change into something inspiring, more for myself than anyone else. But the sentiment seems to have resonated. We all wish we had acre upon acre of space to homestead. But that’s just not where everyone is at right now. Doesn’t mean we aren’t homesteaders too!
Apparently I’m not the only one who loves Stitch Fix, you guys really enjoyed seeing what I got in my first Stitch Fix box, almost as much as I did!
Around here we have have to be conscious of every single penny. We both have good jobs, an we do our best to keep expenses down, but if we want to be on our big homestead in 5 years that means we have to stay on a strict budget. Necessity has led me to doing every single one of these things to keep our budget in the black, and since I know I was sick of all those ‘save money by cutting cable’ posts I figured you would enjoy something new as well! I hope it’s helped you guys!
MMMMM. No bake cookies….Seriously, how can you not love them! This is the best recipe ever and I’m glad to see it doing so well, cause everyone deserves some chocolate and peanut butter.
I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see this post in the top 10. It was one that hit me in a powerful way and it was a pleasure to write. Sometimes writing just flows and sometimes it doesn’t…This is one of those times where writing it wasn’t the least bit of work. Someday our daughters will know they can be physically beautiful in their own way, as well as find their beauty in their personality, strength, and character! Not just in the narrowly defined way of popular culture.
You guys really love these reviews….good, cause I love doing them! Stitch Fix did a great job on my second box, I kept every item! If you haven’t checked this service out yet then you really need to!
This post went viral…mostly because of an off the cuff Facebook post. Seriously, I shared one image and it went NUTS! If that image is how you found us please let me know in the comments below cause it absolutely blew my mind! As for the post itself, I really enjoyed writing it after our ‘disasterous’ camping weekend back in September. If you want to know how the person you’re with will react to the stressors of life, go camping in the middle of a torrential downpour, in a crappy tiny little tent, and see how they react….if you’re lucky you’ll get a man like Dustin!
*To be fair I didn’t start using Google Analytics until mid-September so I had some earlier posts that I think would have been higher on the list but aren’t reflected in GA*
Some of my very good homesteading and prepper blog friends have created their list of top 10’s! You should go check them out!
